Whether you’re a digital nomad or freelancer who loves to travel often, you may struggle with keeping your business life organized while on the road. With the right products and tools, you can fulfill your personal and business needs more easily — even if you’re a frequent traveler. Take a look at the following products and tools to help digital nomads rock 2017.
Write Your Own Adventure 2017 Planner
Start the new year off right with a great planner. I’m so in love with the Write Your Own Adventure planner and will start utilizing it next week. Emma Kate made this specifically for creatives, freelancers, and anyone who has a routine that is a bit outside the box. I love the large daily blocks — which make it easy to plan out freelancing and blogging assignments. I also dig the motivational quotes.
Momentum Chrome Extension
Another way to get more organized and get stuff done is with one of my favorite Chrome extensions — Momentum. With this tool, you’ll not only see gorgeous photos from all over the world, but also your top priorities and to-do list for the day. You can check off tasks as you complete them. I love this tool and it’s a great way to help get more organized and focused this upcoming year.
Seagate 1TB Portable External Hard Drive
If you’re a digital nomad, chances are you have a lot of photo and video files. These can take up a lot of space! If you’re sick of the “you’re running low on space” message on your Macbook Pro, even after adding more memory (sound familiar?!) it’s time for an external hard drive. I recently purchased a 1TB portable external hard drive and it’s been a great way to store and backup important files while on the go! The Seagate 1TB Portable Hard Drive is a great option.
Skyroam Mobile Hotspot
As a freelancer or digital nomad, you know just how essential a good internet connection is. With the Skyroam Mobile Hotspot, you have internet access when you need it. This is great to have on hand, in the event that you’re having internet trouble while on the go. You only pay when you use the service and can get 24 hours of non-stop coverage for only $10.
If you’re not yet using a tool to schedule out your social media marketing — sign up for one NOW. This makes a huge difference and can totally save a ton of time each week! I personally use and love Buffer. I load up a few days at a time (or a whole week if I’m feeling extra on top of things!) and then I don’t have to worry about stopping to post content several times a day. The $10 “Awesome” monthly plan is perfect for small biz owners and digital nomads.
Jackery Premium External Battery Bar
If you’ve been relying on your regular phone charger (and are frequently losing cords), this is a great time to invest in a portable battery bar. This allows you to charge up quickly when you need it — whether you’re on your way to your next destination by plane or the electricity has gone out at your Airbnb. The Jackery Premium External Battery Bar is a great choice for Apple and Android phones alike. If you keep this charged up on every trip — you’ll be ready to go.
If you’re not yet using Airbnb when you’re on the go — you’re missing out! Airbnb makes it easy to find unique places to stay all around the world. In many cases, they’re often cheaper than a traditional hotel. If you arrive last-minute at an unplanned destination — this is a great resource to have available.
Another great resource to invest in is WeWork. This company offers co-working spaces all around the globe. There are many locations in cities across the US as well as other major global cities — like Seoul, Hong Kong, Berlin, and Paris. I recommend checking out the city locations before joining — but they are always growing. If this doesn’t meet your needs, look into investing in other co-w0rking space opportunities so that always have a place to work while traveling!
Universal Travel Adapter
Have you ever realized a bit too late that your computer and other electronics don’t fit the electric outlets in your current country of choice? Buying a Universal Travel Adapter will make it possible for you to use your electronics all over the world — it’s also great because you can save more space, since you only need to pack one type of adapter.
If you don’t currently have an unlocked phone, you may want to look into it. Certain carriers (Verizon, for example) sell unlocked phones. I have an iPhone 6S from Verizon, and it’s unlocked. This means, that when I’m in another country — I can just put a new sim card in and use their service. This makes for very affordable data charges in many countries. This iPhone 6, is unlocked and available on Amazon. If you want to avoid high roaming and data charges when traveling abroad, this is a great option.
Another helpful app for busy working travelers is Stay Focusd. Have you ever spent a bit too much time surfing through your Facebook feed or looking at Pinterest? Stay Focusd allows you to block distracting websites so that you can get your work done.
Another great purchase for the new year is a Kindle. Why not continue to learn and grow through books? It can take up a lot of space to constantly pack up your favorite paperbacks. A Kindle makes it easy for your to read as many books as you want while on the go.
Otterbox Defender Phone Case
It’s important to protect your cell phone — especially if you’re a frequent traveler. You never know when an accident may happen and you don’t want to be left without a phone if you rely on it for work. With this Otterbox Defender Phone Case, your phone will be protected from drops and scratches.
TaoTronics Bluetooth Headphones
A quality pair of headphones can make all the differnece! I personally can’t concentrate in a coffee shop or other public space if there’s a lot of loud talking going on. I always make sure that I have headphones in my bag so that I can zone out and get my work done. If you’ve been having trouble concentrating on work while out at a coffee shop, consider purchasing these TaoTronics Bluetooth Headphones.
If you’re frequently moving from one place to another, you may have some concerns about theft. It also has a RFID blocking pocket so that your personal data (from passports and other important documents) aren’t stolen.
Entrepreneurs, digital nomads, and freelancers can work on improving their writing skills this upcoming year. Grammarly is another great app that can be added to Chrome. This tool will check spelling and grammar mistakes — whether you’re writing an email, blog post, or filling out a form.
Extra SD Cards
As a frequent traveler, it’s likely that you’re taking a lot of photos. If you want to avoid being in a situation where you can’t find or purchase an SD card — it’s best to have a couple extra on hand. This 64GB ScanDisc SD Card is a great option!
