I’ve been thinking about visiting Walt Disney World as an adult for a few years now. I had last been to Disney when I was sixteen years old. Seeing as I’m now a few months away from 30, this feels like forever ago! I have fond memories going with my family but also wanted to see what memories I could create as an adult. Many people would tell me “Disney is for kids!” or “Wait until you have a family!” when I mentioned wanting to visit Disney in my 20’s. The last couple of years while living abroad and traveling, I’ve realized just how important it is to live in the moment and do what you love. Last month, I visited Walt Disney World again, as a 29-year-old adult. If you’re unsure about whether Disney can be enjoyed as an adult, this post is for you! In the words of Walt Disney himself, “Laughter is timeless, imagination has no age, dreams are forever.”
Here are 6 reasons you should visit Walt Disney World as an adult!
You Have a New Perspective
When visiting Disney as an adult, you have an entirely different perspective. I last went with my family who took me on the trip for vacation. I don’t think any child or teenager fully realized how much work, money, time, and care goes into planning a vacation for the whole family—especially a trip to Disney. I wish I showed how thankful I was back then — but I certainly am STILL thankful for those experiences that I had growing up.
This time around, I enjoyed visiting Disney as an adult because I felt like it gave me an entirely different perspective. It was fun watching children and families take in the sights and experiences. It also made me realize just how BIG of a trip this is for so many families. They may save up for years and make many sacrifices to take their children to this magical place. If you want to look at Disney with totally different eyes, I recommend visiting as an adult.
I’m sure my experience will be even more different if I ever make the choice to have children and bring them to Disney.
You Can Drink Around the World
Yes, you heard me right! When you visit Walt Disney’s Epcot, no passport is needed. You can wander around the World Showcase to learn more about various countries, try their foods, and of course drink their drinks! Japan, Mexico, Norway, and Canada are just a few of the countries you can see here. If you’re looking for a full day of adventure, stop by each country to sample a local cocktail. You may find you love something completely new!
This can be such a fun way to try new cocktails that you may not normally drink. And, I don’t know about you, but drinks taste better when you’re at Disney. 😉
You Can Really Enjoy the Variety of Foods
I would be lying if I said food wasn’t my second favorite thing (after wine of course). I was really excited about trying the food at Disney, especially as an adult. The food did not disappoint! There’s a lot of variety and you can find casual and upscale restaurant options in all of the parks as well as around the Disney area. (The official Disney resorts have great food options, too!)
I also enjoyed checking out all of the yummy dessert creations found throughout the parks. I saw so many rice crispy treats, cupcakes, and cookies! It’s amazing just how fun all of the snacks look—you almost don’t want to eat them!
Shop Until You Drop
When visiting as an adult, you can also do all the shopping you want. Disney has a lot of opportunities for shopping. I recommend a stop to Disney Springs, which is full of both restaurants and shops. All of the parks also have a collection of shops to choose from. Whether you’re looking for t-shirts, cute Mickey ears, or just want to bring home some Mickey-inspired decor items—you’ll find exactly what you’re looking for.
You Can Avoid the Busy Season
As an adult, you may have more flexibility as to when you can visit Walt Disney World. Many parents choose to visit during the spring or summer months when there are breaks from school. You can avoid the crowds and take your vacation during a slower time period so that you can have more fun and wait in fewer lines! It also gives you more opportunity when securing fast passes, event tickets, and dinner reservations.
Finally, the last reason to go to Disney as an adult is —WHY NOT?! Lately, I find myself saying “WHY NOT?!” when asked why I want to try something or why I want to go somewhere. Only you can decide what’s important to you and what places you want to visit in life. Now is a great time to visit Disney. If we keep putting off our wishes instead of making them a reality, time will just continue to pass by. I dare you to make it a reality.
And there you have it — 6 reasons you should visit Walt Disney World as an adult. I hope you get the opportunity to visit Disney as a grown up, too!
Disclaimer: I received complimentary park tickets, thanks to Disney. As always, all views are my own —and yes, I was as excited as I look wearing my sparkly pink Minnie ears! 🙂
