I’ve always wanted to take a hot air balloon ride. It’s been one of my bucket list items for a few years now. I had planned to take a ride in Prague last November, but sadly the weather didn’t allow for it. Luckily, I had the chance to experience this while in Spain last month. Thanks to Ballooning Barcelona, my sister and I both got to take an unforgettable ride in the Spanish countryside. I’m so lucky to have had the chance to experience beautiful Spain views with Ballooning Barcelona. Keep reading to hear about this amazing adventure — I think you’ll want to book a ride, too!
When riding with Ballooning Barcelona, you get to experience Spain in all its beauty. You’ll start your flight about 30 minutes outside of Barcelona in the countryside village of Cardedeu. You can either drive yourself and meet up at a designated meet-up spot, or you can pay a bit extra for round-trip transfer in downtown Barcelona. We choose to take advantage of the ride to/from Barcelona. It was fun seeing new sights as we drove out to Cardedeu and it took the stress out of having to organize transportation.
Once you arrive at the flight location, you may notice they’re still prepping the balloon for your ride. When we got there, they were finishing up preparations. I couldn’t believe just how big the balloon was! I knew it would be big — but wow — in person it looks HUGE. It was cool to see them in action, getting it all ready to go. We were feeling really excited and a little bit nervous about our ride! 🙂
We took part in the Discovery Balloon Ride, which is a shared ride experience. This experience fits up to 8 riders. There were only 6 of us on the morning that we flew. They also have other options available, like family rides and private rides. It just depends on what you’re looking for!
Once the balloon is ready to go, everyone gets in the basket and off you go! The flight takes about an hour. Ours lasted a little more than an hour. During the ride, you’ll get to see and experience breathtaking views of the Spanish countryside. I still can’t get over just how beautiful it was — and the photos hardly capture the true beauty that we saw. You’re so far up and everything below looks so tiny — it really is a unique experience! Our pilot was very friendly and pointed out some facts about the area, while we were on there ride. I thought that was a nice touch!
As you reach the end of the flight, your pilot will start making his way to a safe landing space. I was a little nervous about landing in the basket but it was perfectly fine and it didn’t feel weird or uncomfortable. Other team members are waiting to help assist with the landing. Once everyone is out of the basket, it takes a bit of time to get the balloon deflated and packed away. It’s kind of funny how small the balloon looks when it’s all packed up again!
After the ride, you get to enjoy a glass of cava and a snack along with your fellow passengers and crew members. It was a great way to end the afternoon. This experience was truly unforgettable! If you’re looking to have a great time on your trip to Barcelona, be sure to experience beautiful Spain views with Ballooning Barcelona. This ride offers a once-in-a-lifetime memorable travel experience.
Disclaimer: Ballooning Barcelona sponsored this opportunity. As always, all views are my own. I promise the in-air view were just as gorgeous (if not more) as they look! 🙂
