If you’re planning to travel throughout Asia, chances are you may find yourself with a layover in Kuala Lumpur. Since living and traveling in Asia, I’ve had a layover in Kuala Lumpur a total of four times. Previously, the layovers were only a few hours, so I chose to stay in the airport. On my current trip to Bali, I found myself with about 19 hours to spare — so I decided it was the perfect chance to see a little bit of Malaysia! Staying at the beautiful Majestic Hotel proved to be a great choice!
The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur is a hotel full of beauty and history. While parts of the hotel have been renovated and have been expanded upon, the hotel still contains portions of the iconic Hotel Majestic, which was built over 80 years ago. In 1932, it was considered extreme luxury to stay in a hotel with modern sanitation and hot and cold shower options. With gorgeous custom made furniture and other decor imported from England and an impressive roof garden, Hotel Majestic was considered one of the most luxurious hotels in all of Kuala Lumpur. To this day, it continues to impress!
Whether you’re staying in the newer portion of the hotel — the Tower Wing– or the older portion — the Majestic Wing — there’s a lot of beauty and you’re sure to be impressed. I had the chance to stay in the Majestic Wing in the gorgeous Colonial Suite. This room had a bedroom, huge bathroom with a shower and tub, and a living room area with a comfortable couch and a desk. If you stay in one of the suite rooms, you also have access to the club level privileges.
While you’ll likely want to spend a lot of time in your comfortable room, there’s so much more to see and do while at the Majestic Hotel. You can have dinner at the Colonial Cafe, have an afternoon tea at the Tea Lounge, enjoy a cigar at the Smoke Lounge, or treat yourself at the Majestic Spa. I know I was wishing my layover was longer so that I could do and see more!
As you can see, this hotel really is gorgeous! If you have a layover planned in Kuala Lumpur, this hotel is especially perfect as they have shuttles available to the the most popular destinations, making transportation less-stressful. You can take a shuttle to Sentral Station (easy access to airport), Starhill Gallery (the place to shop), and Mid Valley. The hotel is also in a very convenient location, making it easy for you to visit some of the top attractions that Kuala Lumpur has to offer.
While staying here, I was able to enjoy a delicious dinner and breakfast. My favorite was the beautiful spread at the breakfast buffet. You’ll enjoy a mix of cuisines, fresh juices, and delicious coffee. If you’re not in the mood for a buffet, you can get breakfast delivered to your room.
If you find yourself with a layover in Kuala Lumpur, I highly recommend staying at the Majestic Hotel. You will enjoy its beauty and variety of offerings. The staff helped make my layover comfortable and stress-free!
Things I especially loved about the Majestic Hotel:
- The check in process was very personal and convenient. I was offered a welcome drink and taken straight to my room to complete the check-in process on an iPad.
- The mini-bar in my room was free! I was told to “please empty it!” Well, if you insist! 🙂
- Everything was beautiful — no matter where I was headed while walking through the hotel — everything was lovely to look at.
- The staff was very helpful. I was told to ring the butler if I needed anything at all. Every staff member went above and beyond.
Special thank you to Frannie and Jeoffery for inviting me to stay. As always, all views are my own.
