When we visited Chiang Mai earlier this year, we got to eat a lot of yummy food. Trying different foods is one of our favorite parts of traveling. In this post, we’ll introduce you to some of our favorite restaurants in Chiang Mai, Thailand. If you’re planning to visit Thailand soon or sometime in the future, we recommend that you stop at the following places!
Bamboo Bee Vegetarian Restaurant
I would say that this was our most favorite place to visit, because we ate here on three different occasions. Whether you’re vegetarian or not, you’ll find something delicious to eat. Located in the Old City portion of Chiang Mai, this restaurant is run by Bebee. She cooks and creates her own recipes, holds cooking classes, and sells her own cookbook and drink recipe books.
I wish I had gotten a picture of the interior of this restaurant because the decor was very unique. Every time we went back to Bamboo Bee, we made sure to get different dishes so that we could try a variety of things. We also enjoyed tasting the many fruit smoothies. If we ever go back to Chiang Mai, I know that this is one of the places we will visit again right away.
Free Bird Cafe
While we only got to eat here once due to their hours of operation and the days we were visiting the area, we enjoyed our meal at the Free Bird Cafe. We had put this restaurant on our must-see list after reading about them online. We learned that not only is the food delicious, but this business is also a non-profit that uses proceeds to help those in need.
You can purchase a variety of food and drinks here. In the restaurant, there is also a used book store and a small shop with merchandise. We ended up buying a used book and some bug spray. As for our meal, we had a delicious breakfast the day before we left Chiang Mai. I’m glad we were able to check it out. If you want to enjoy some great food and support a good cause, we recommend a trip to the Free Bird Cafe.
Blue Diamond Breakfast Club
Another favorite was the Blue Diamond Breakfast Club. This restaurant not only serves breakfast items, but many other meals. They also have a bakery and sell muffins, fresh rolls, and other sweets. The outdoor seating area is surrounded by lots of plants and flowers, making the environment relaxing. We enjoyed a few meals here while in Chiang Mai.
Sometimes we ate breakfast items and other times we ate salads, curry, or sandwiches. With an extensive menu, you have a lot of options to choose from.
These are some of our favorite restaurants in Chiang Mai. During our travels in Thailand, we felt that this city had the most authentic and delicious food. If you plan to visit in the future, consider eating at one of the above restaurants.
