If you’re planning a trip to Sydney, you’re likely hoping to check out as many beautiful views as possible. A great way to do this is by doing the Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb. With the help of a guide, you and your group can climb the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge. Depending on what type of view you’re after, you can hike in the morning, daytime, twilight hours, or night. Take a look below to learn more about my experience with this amazing climb.
To start, my group was briefed on what to expect during the climb. We also listened to safety points. We were then fitted up with our gear. Next, we met our awesome guide, Lexie, and went through a short practice session to help prepare for the climb. Don’t worry, it’s easy to follow along!
I did the 6:50 climb – which I think was absolutely perfect. It’s the first session of the night climbs. Due to this timing, I was able to catch some of the amazing sunset as I was going up the bridge. By the time I got to the very top, it was nighttime and the city was all lit up! While on the bridge, you get a birds-eye view of Sydney — the views were breathtaking!
I can’t get over just how gorgeous this city looks at night! You’ll be able to enjoy the beautiful Sydney Opera House and the rest of the skyline as you peer from above. During the climb, you also get to learn about the history of Sydney as well as the history of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The guides are fun and informative, which adds to the overall experience.
If you end up purchasing the photo package (you totally should!) you’ll be happy to know that your instructor is not only capturing photos of you, but photos of the view! This is a great way to look back at this unique experience that the Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb offers. You’ll get a USB flash drive, which makes it easy for you to take your photos home with you — even if you have a lot of travel planned.
If you find yourself in Sydney, whether it’s for vacation or a work trip, I recommend that you carve out some time to do this climb — it’s truly a life a once in a lifetime experience! Allow 3-3.5 hours from the introduction all the way to the completion of the climb. It’s totally worth it! Thank you to the Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb for allowing me to take part in this unique experience!
