During my month-long Europe adventure, I had the chance to spend a few days in Florence. This was my favorite part of Italy because it’s such a beautiful city! Thanks to the Grand Hotel Minerva, I had a lovely place to stay during my travels here. This is a gorgeous hotel located right in the heart of Florence — so it made for an enjoyable time and was nearby everything. Keep reading to find out more about the Grand Hotel Minerva.
The best part about this hotel might be its location (but maybe not — because there’s a lot more to love!). Located right in the Piazza Santa Maria Novella, the hotel is only steps away from the church of Santa Maria Novella and is closeby to the Duomo and the central train station. There are also many restaurants nearby — so you’ll always have somewhere to eat. Since I arrived by train from Rome, it was very easy to get to this hotel.
I stayed in a beautiful room. It had a lovely view out of the bedroom window. In addition to the large bed, there was a seating area — which was nice a nice spot to sit and enjoy wine in the evening. There was also a walk-in closet in my room — which I wanted to bring home with me. 🙂 The gorgeous marble bathroom had a large walk-in shower as well. This oasis made for a perfect way to relax each night after a full day of exploring.
But, Hotel Grand Minerva offered more than just a great room. The whole hotel is gorgeous. One thing I really loved about this hotel is the amount of comfortable seating areas all around the building. There were so many comfy couches and chairs and a lot of art to look at, too. Whenever I bumped into staff members, I was always greeted with a friendly smile.
While staying here, I enjoyed the daily breakfast buffet. It was such a nice spread of cheeses, meats, fresh fruit, breads and pastries, and classic breakfast favorites like eggs and potatoes. Everything was displayed nicely — and it offered a great way to start my day.
If you plan to stay at Grand Hotel Minerva, you’ll absolutely love the rooftop terrace. This offers a breathtaking view of Florence. There’s also a rooftop pool that’s begging to be enjoyed! In addition, there is a bar area, so you can get your drinks poolside. The pool and bar are open from May to September.
Sadly, I was staying during a rainy bunch of days in November — but I so want to come back and enjoy this perk during the warmer months! I still spend a good bit of time on the roof just taking in the impressive views. The best part was I didn’t have to visit extra attractions to get amazing views — they were right at my hotel!
While staying here, I also enjoyed a dinner at the on-site restaurant La Buona Novella. This restaurant offers a contemporary take on classics and makes sure to use fresh, local ingredients. The menu features a variety of appetizers, entrees, main courses, sides, and desserts. I loved the added touch of gluten-free, diet-friendly, and vegetarian markings on the menu. There’s also an extensive wine and drink menu available and the staff is happy to help with a pairing. During the warmer months, there is also seating outdoors — which I think is a nice touch!
One of my favorite things about staying at any hotel is noticing the extra little things that they do — because those little things often make a big difference. As I mentioned earlier, I was visiting during a time when there was a lot of rain. I LOVED that the hotel had umbrellas available for guests to use. It made hopping out for some gelato that much easier! 🙂
I had such a great time while staying at Grand Hotel Minerva. If you’re planning an upcoming trip to Florence, I highly recommend this hotel. You’ll be close to so many attractions and the service and quality really make the entire experience.
