The Bible is a holy-spirited book full of wisdom and is a source of great insight.
The concept of health and wellness goes somehow in a way where physical well-being is linked with spirituality and mental well-being. The Bible is not some science book that will be naming diseases and ways to cure them but there are so many verses in different chapters that elaborate on the Godly ways of remaining healthy.
1) Why Does God Want Humans to Be Healthy?
In this verse of ( Ephesians 2:10), it is said that,
Our merciful lord created only healthy humans and ordered them to multiply and create a world. It is due to the mistake of eating the forbidden fruit that death became the harshest truth of human life and thus with aging human body gets slower and slower.
But God loves us, we are his creation created by him to do good work for each other but before doing any good to others we must be in a good state physically and mentally, only then we will be of any help to others.
A sick and old person cannot help anyone, their bodies are not in a very sound state. A painful body causes heaviness only. So we must cure our wounds, eat and drink healthily. A sick person can only spread infection through his body and mind and to serve our Lord one must remain in a healthy state.
2) What Is the Power of Good Health?
According to the Proverbs ( 17:22) which says,
Humans remain in a good state of mind only when they are healthy that’s why it is often said that health is wealth. We speak good things to hopeless and positive words do the magic. We give a hand to the helpless only when we possess strength and humility.
But around a sick person even the air smells of anxiety weaving negative thoughts. The people around the sick are worried and the negativity has a bad effect on them as well. As said in the verse the lowly energized and broken spirited keep crushing the ever-forming hopes. So we must possess good health to remain physically and emotionally stable.
Like said in Proverbs ( 16:24) which says,
when we speak good words, it does good to the mind of the hearer.
3) How Physical Health Is Linked With Mental Health?
According to verse 3, John (1:2) says,
Our soul only gets along well when we are physically healthy but when our mind is sick it and we don’t seek help, it starts affecting our body.
For example, an anxious person always experiences a shiver during times of stress, pain in the muscles, and unhappiness within. A hyper person generally starts suffering from high blood pressure which later or in extreme cases can cause heart failure.
These people start developing physical problems because, for a long time, their minds have been sick. Treatment of the sick mind can be done by the psychiatrist or by the almighty. After the pandemic, there is so much hype about mental health which is good but it has not been an alien thing. The holy book Bible contains so many verses about mental health and healing. This is how physical health is linked with mental health.
4) How does Worshipping Help in Attaining Good Health?
According to the verse in Exodus (23:25) which says,
Worship the Lord and he will bless your meal and cure your wounds.
We have seen our elders starting the day with a prayer, and in our school, we have been taught lunch prayer before eating. Because when we pray with pure intentions, our good and drink receive an ultimate positive energy and when we eat, it energizes our soul.
Eating the right food, taking precautions, and doing physical and mental exercises is a form of worship. We are creatures of our lord, so when we treat ourselves rightly, we treat God rightly. God is there in each one of us, we just need to practice right and look within ourselves to find him.
As stated in the Corinthians (10:31) which says,
Whatever you do, whether it’s eating or any other work, start working in the name of God.
Following a healthy lifestyle will help you lead a happier life. Focus on your diet, and be grateful for what you’ve. It will help your body detox, and you can see the difference in just a few weeks.
